The programmes and projects to be undertaken will aim to harness a vibrant natural products industry premised on creating and implementing profitable and sustainable commercial initiatives from intellectual property (IP) borne out of the interplay between indigenous knowledge / technologies, on the one hand, and research and technological innovation, on the other. These programmes/projects, apart from promoting home-grown innovations, will lead to development and manufacture of niche products that meet national and international standards for local and global markets.

OBJECTIVE

Owing to the exponentially growing worldwide demand for natural products, a massive global focus on the development of this industry is remarkably evident. In Kenya, a formal structure that is legally regulated, scientifically driven and with a commercially informed sustainable system of value-addition to enable the locally derived products appeal to all potential consumers in the local and international marketplace is vital.
