PROJECT PROGRESS

National Cohesion and Integration Act enacted in November 2008 establishing of National Cohesion and Integration Commission A national elders? conference on cohesion and integration was held in April 2010 recommended a legally constituted council of elders Commission has received and acted on 74 complaints cases Uwiano a project of a peace building and conflict resolution platform undertaken during Constitution referendum with Peace Net and UNDP Country wide media sensitization campaign on national cohesion and integration held. Extensive countrywide peace and cohesion tours held to address various issues of peace and integration among communities Ethnic audit and baseline survey in all the Government institutions to ascertain ethnic balance and take remedial action underway with 160 ministries and state corporations Operationalization of the national values enshrined in the Constitution spearheaded jointly by the ministry and the National Economic and Social Council.
 

OBJECTIVE

To deal with the grievances arising from the inter-ethnic relations and particularly the problem of negative ethnicity in order to promote a lasting national cohesion;To eliminate ethnic discrimination, hate speech and promote harmonious relations between different ethnic communities.
