Rapid Assessment of Counties- Automation and Employment Creation

The Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat has released a Report on the Assessment of Automation of Services and Employment Creation by Counties. The report was launched by the Director General; Mr. Kenneth Mwige at the Ruwaza Center on the 7th Floor of Britam Center, on 24/2/2026.

The report takes a closer look at how counties are leveraging digital platforms to make government services more accessible and citizen-friendly. It reveals that counties performing well in automation and citizen experience tend to record stronger overall results, while gaps in employment creation and data institutionalization continue to hold others back.

Importantly, the findings emphasize that while automation and e-government services are powerful enablers, they are not a silver bullet — effective service delivery and meaningful economic empowerment ultimately depend on strong leadership and good governance.

With a large proportion of Kenya’s population under the age of 35, the report also highlights the immense opportunity counties have to tap into this youthful energy to drive innovation and growth through deliberate, strategic investment.
