Mr. Ismail Maaruf

DIRECTOR ECONOMIC AND MACRO PILLAR

Mr. Ismail Maaruf is a seasoned statistician with over 15 years of experience in public sector performance management, administration, and governance. He has held senior positions in the Government of Kenya, including Director of Strategy, Research, and Compliance at the Commission on Administrative Justice (Kenya’s Office of the Ombudsman), where he played a key role in establishing corporate planning, research functions, management control systems, resource mobilization, and capacity building.

He has been instrumental in shaping Kenya’s Medium-Term Plans (I, II, & III) and has served as a key technical team member in designing and reviewing the national performance contracting framework and guidelines at both national and devolved levels. A member of the Statistical Society of Kenya and the Project Management Institute, Mr. Ismail brings extensive expertise in data-driven decision-making and policy implementation.

In his current role, he leads the coordination and execution of flagship projects and programs under the Economic Pillar sectors. His responsibilities include tracking macroeconomic indicators, preparing progress reports, monitoring and evaluating projects, and assessing the performance of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
